• 🕐 First thing — check your phone's time zone! Not all phones switch automatically; Batam is 1 h behind Singapore.
• Check-in from 3:00 pm: submit your physical passport for scanning — then you're taken to your room with your bags.
• Rooms: half right / half left of reception (facing the beach; map at reception). Buggy for the right side, elevator for the left.
• Wi-Fi: network "TURIBEACH", no password — coworking, rooms, pool, some beach areas. ⚠️ Upgrades scheduled: brief outages near-term, faster soon. eSIM backup: Saily · Pangia Pass (ask Bailey for her referral code) · Airalo — local SIMs also sold at the hotel.

• Grab deliveries: arrive at the hotel entrance (a walk from the rooms) — order in bulk with friends.
• Snacks: mini-shop under the stairs — chips, ice cream, toothpaste, bug spray, sunscreen. Nobody there? Ask staff at the ground/first-floor restaurants to open it.
• Water: 2 free bottles/day per room (1 each if sharing) — or refill at the brown jugs in the private dining space. Coffee/tea 7–10 am (breakfast room), after 11:30 (private dining). Nespresso in Aqua coworking (thanks Mark S — use sparingly or donate pods!).

Food schedule confirmed w/ reception

• Breakfast: 7:00–10:00 · Lunch: 11:30–14:00 · Dinner: 18:00–20:30
• Lunch & dinner are served in the private dining room, 3rd floor.
• All-day à la carte + desserts at the breakfast restaurant — order and pay there.
• Evenings: the island bar on the pier opens — à la carte, snacks, desserts, sometimes a live band. Best vibes on the water. 🌅

Coworking (our designated spaces)

• Aqua Ballroom — two levels down from reception, on the right. All 3 rooms are ours; the left room = all-hands & presentations. More spaces opening as we take over the resort!
• Isabel Bar — ground floor by the big pool (between the pools). The community favorite for comfortable coworking.
• ⚠️ Nongsa Digital Park coworking is not approved — use the Turi spaces.

Scout-verified spots & activities tested = truth

• 🍕 Tiigo — upscale beach club, great pizza & cocktails (Lucas + ~15 scouts). The group night out.
• ☕ Montigo — fancy resort nearby; coffee shop with a gorgeous view (Sara's pick).
• 💆 Turi spa (T-Wellness): book ahead at ext. 7006 · Sun–Thu 9–21, Fri–Sat 8:30–23 · massages from IDR 450k (60' body massage 685k), scrubs 550k, packages 755k–2,260k. • 🤿 Scuba: Max's Dive Centre — Gerry, WA +62 823-9026-3600, ~IDR 2.25M/2 boat dives. 🎯 Paintball: Pro Adventures, ~30 min, ~IDR 375k/pax, fits 30.
• 🏥 Clinic at Nongsa Point — 2 nurses (1 on duty), room visits via reception, partner hospital 10–15 min.
• 🐒 House rules: no ocean swimming after 6 pm · monkeys steal shoes left outside (bring them in, don't feed, lock doors) · evening mosquito fogging is normal.
• 🛵 Scooters: rentable via local contact — ask around, one was sourced within an hour.

Before you sail do at home

Day 1–3 on the ground on arrival

Visa required

• e-VOA — apply at the official portal evisa.imigrasi.go.id. IDR 500,000 ≈ S$42. 30 days, extendable once (+30 days, same fee).
• VOA on arrival also works — counters at Nongsapura & Batam Centre. Card acceptance at the small Nongsa counter is patchy: carry Rp 500k cash backup.
• ASEAN passports (SG, MY, PH, TH, VN…): visa-free 30 days, strictly non-extendable.
• Passport needs 6+ months validity; a return ferry ticket satisfies the onward-ticket rule.

All Indonesia Arrival Card required

• One unified digital form (immigration + customs + health, replaced the old e-CD in Sep 2025). Free.
• Fill at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id within 72 h before arrival → you get a QR code.
• Required at Batam seaports, including Nongsapura and Batam Centre. Screenshot the QR.

Download before you leave

• Google Maps offline area: Batam + Google Translate offline Indonesian pack.
• Apps: Grab, Gojek, WhatsApp (everything runs on it), your SG bank app (it pays via QRIS — see Money).

Main route: Tanah Merah → Nongsapura recommended

• Departs Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (east SG, ~15 min taxi from Changi) — not HarbourFront.
• Sole operator: Batam Fast · ~50 min crossing · ~3–5 sailings/day (first ~08:00, last return ~20:00).
• Check the day's schedule + book: batamfast.com · ≈ S$60–85 return all-in.
• Aggregators: Direct Ferries · Easybook · redBus.

Flying in — Hang Nadim Airport (BTH) closest to Turi

• From Kuala Lumpur: daily direct flights, ~70 min — AirAsia (daily since Mar 2026) + Batik Air, ~2/day, from ~US$61–70. The main route from Malaysia.
• Also direct: Jakarta, Bali & more Indonesian cities.
• Airport → Turi: only ~12 km · 15–25 min — shortest transfer of any route.
• 🌙 Late-night landing? Pre-book your transfer with Turi (WhatsApp +62 821 7056 5363) or a trusted driver — ride-hailing in Nongsa dries up at night.

From Johor Bahru 🇲🇾 by ferry

• Stulang Laut (Berjaya Waterfront) → Batam Centre: ~1.5–2 h, from ~RM 125. berjayawaterfront.com
• Puteri Harbour → Harbour Bay: ~1–1.5 h, ~RM 190, first ~07:30 / last ~18:30.
• Book: redBus JB–Batam · arrive 45 min early. Then 45–60 min taxi to Turi ≈ IDR 150k.

Other SG routes & fine print

• HarbourFront → Batam Centre (~60–70 min, Sindo/Batam Fast/Majestic/Horizon, from ~S$37 one-way, 170+ weekly sailings): sindoferry.com.sg · Majestic · Horizon.
• HarbourFront → Harbour Bay (~50–60 min, near Nagoya nightlife).
• From either city terminal, Turi Beach is a 45–60 min taxi/Grab ≈ IDR 150k.
• Fees: SG departure ~S$10 + Batam terminal fee IDR 100k — usually bundled into online return fares; check the breakdown.
• ⏰ Batam is 1 hour behind Singapore (WIB, UTC+7). Ferry times are local to each side.

The flow, in order

• 1. Show your All Indonesia QR code.
• 2. VOA counter (skip if you have e-VOA / ASEAN passport). Rp 500k cash backup.
• 3. Immigration stamp → bags → customs (green lane).
• 4. Turi Beach free shuttle: a dispatcher with a placard meets every ferry in the arrival hall (shared with Nongsa Point Marina). No booking needed, but email the resort your ferry time: turibeach.com.
• 5. Set your watch back 1 hour.

First 2 hours on the ground

• Activate your eSIM (installed at home) or grab a SIM kiosk at the terminal (marked up ~2×; cheaper in town — see eSIM section).
• Withdraw cash at a BCA or BNI ATM IDR 2–2.5M max/txn — start with ~IDR 1.5–2M for the week.
• Save the shuttle driver's / front desk WhatsApp number — it's your transport lifeline in Nongsa.
• Buy bottled water. Tap water is never drinkable in Indonesia.

eSIM — install before you fly easiest

• Nomad — rides Telkomsel. 10 GB ≈ $17 · 20 GB ≈ $30. Best coverage pick.
• Airalo — rides Indosat/3. 3 GB/30 d ≈ $10. Cheapest, weaker rural signal.
• Saily — from $4.79/1 GB; check network in-app.
• Holafly — unlimited ≈ $1.6–3.9/day, but hotspot capped at 500 MB/day — avoid if you tether your laptop.

Local SIM — cheapest per GB 90-day rule

• Telkomsel Tourist SIM: ≈ IDR 150k for ~25 GB/30 d. Passport required (max 3 SIMs). telkomsel.com
• Buy at a GraPARI store (Nagoya Hill / BCS Mall) for honest pricing; terminal kiosks mark up.
• IMEI rule: foreign phones work 90 days on tourist SIMs; staying longer needs customs IMEI registration.
• Turi Wi-Fi: network "TURIBEACH", no password, hotel-wide + coworking — still carry 20 GB+ mobile data as your video-call backup.
• Power: Type C/F plugs, 230 V — Singapore Type-G gear needs an adapter.

Ride-hailing reality read this

• Grab & Gojek work well in the city (Nagoya, Batam Centre) but drivers are scarce in Nongsa and often reject the long empty drive out. batam.com
• Fix: get your first driver's WhatsApp and book him directly for return trips. Everyone does this.
• Your Singapore Grab account works in Batam. Set pickup 50–100 m outside terminal/resort gates — drivers can't enter compounds.
• ⚠️ Some guests report Turi has restricted Grab pickups at the door — confirm with the front desk.

Fares & distances from Turi Beach

• Nongsapura terminal: 2 km · 5 min (free resort shuttle).
• Hang Nadim Airport: ~12 km · 15–25 min.
• Batam Centre / Mega Mall: ~21 km · 30–50 min · IDR 120–150k by Grab.
• Terminal taxis: unmetered, fixed price list — ask to see the printed list. Batam Centre→Nongsa ≈ IDR 150k.

Delivery & must-eats

• GrabFood + GoFood both deliver to Nongsa — riders hand off at the gate/lobby, not your room. Message your villa number; fees rise with distance; some restaurants won't serve Nongsa. gofood.co.id
• Barelang kelong seafood — pick-your-fish over the water: ≈ IDR 250k/pax, lobster ≈ 286k.
• Kopitiam breakfast (Kopi O + nasi lemak/prata): < IDR 30k. Nasi padang: point-and-choose, IDR 25–40k.
• Nagoya night market (Fri–Sat from ~5 pm): satay, otak-otak, martabak at IDR 5–25k.

How to pay

• QRIS is everywhere. Singapore bank apps (DBS/OCBC/UOB with PayNow) can scan QRIS directly and pay in SGD at good rates. qrisantarnegara.com
• ⚠️ Wise/Revolut apps cannot scan QRIS — non-SG visitors: cash + card.
• ATMs: use BCA or BNI (no local fee, IDR 2–2.5M/txn). Avoid CIMB Niaga (2.5% fee) and Mandiri (Rp 50k fee on foreign cards since Feb 2026).
• Cards fine in malls/hotels; hawkers, taxis, warungs = cash/QRIS. Tip 5–10% cash; driver/day ≈ Rp 50–100k.
• Money changers: best rates in Nagoya, worst at ferry terminals.

• Isabel Bar — ground floor by the big pool (between the two pools). The community's favorite comfortable work spot. ☕
• ⚠️ Nongsa Digital Park coworking is not approved for our group — NDP (nongsadigital.com) is context/networking, not our office.
• Also on the strip: Nongsa Point Marina, Nongsa Village, golf course, Nongsapura terminal.

Reliability rules

• "TURIBEACH" Wi-Fi covers the resort + coworking — for mission-critical meetings, run a Telkomsel hotspot backup (5G in Batam; buy 20 GB+).
• Skip Holafly if you tether (500 MB/day hotspot cap).
• Adapter: Type C/F, 230 V. Bring a multi-way — rooms are outlet-poor.
• Timezone win: you're 1 h behind SG — quiet mornings, aligned afternoons.

Health

• Never drink tap water — bottled/refill everywhere, including for teeth-brushing if you're cautious.
• Dengue is active (cases doubled 2023→24; red zones early 2025). DEET at dawn/dusk — Turi's gardens have evening mosquitoes.
• Hospitals expats use: RS Awal Bros Batam (JCI-accredited) · Awal Bros Botania · St. Elisabeth. Serious cases ferry to Singapore. hospital list
• Pharmacies: Kimia Farma & Guardian in every major mall.
• Travel insurance that covers Indonesia + evacuation to SG is worth it.

Safety

• Violent crime is rare; petty scams and unmetered-taxi overcharging are the main annoyance — agree prices first or use the printed list.
• Roads are the biggest hazard: only ride GoRide bikes with a helmet, and skip them at night.

• Keep a photo of your passport + e-VOA + Arrival Card QR in your phone.

Etiquette

• Give and receive (money, cards, food) with the right hand.
• Cover shoulders/knees at mosques; expect a Friday-noon prayer slowdown.
• Bargaining is normal at markets, not in malls. Smile — it's the local operating system.
• Ramadan 2026 already passed (Feb 19–Mar 19); next is ~Feb 2027 — no fasting-month impact this stay.

Get out

• Barelang Bridge run — 6 bridges to Rempang & Galang, kelong seafood lunch, Galang Vietnamese refugee-camp site. Hire a car+driver for the day (≈ IDR 950k split between friends).
• Ranoh Island day trip — ~30 min speedboat from the Nongsa area, snorkel/kayak included. batamshuttle.com
• Nongsa Point Marina — sailing, island hops, sunset beers, 10 min away.

Chill & shop

• Massage: 2-hour full body from ≈ S$30 (REBORN at Grand Batam/Mega Mall); Kamaya Spa packages IDR 290–350k with free transport. spa guide
• Malls: Mega Mall (attached to Batam Centre ferry — easiest), Nagoya Hill (biggest), Grand Batam, One Batam Mall.
• Singapore day-loop: you're 50 min from Tanah Merah — a lunch meeting in SG and back for sunset is a normal Tuesday here.
